Luck of the Draw  began life as  radio play with Dandy Nichols. It was published by the BBC, and then by Samual French, now by Concord Theatricals. As a theatre play it has been played by many groups, amateur and professional in the UK ,Eire and USA.

The action of the play for four characters is A.S.Robertsons'  original and very funny take on the drawing of a Christmas Raffle, a simple task which descends the  characters into a moral entanglement of their own making. You will laugh to witness their attempts to extricate themselves with pride intact. As familiar and funny as ourselves.

Luck of the Draw Original Recording

The Token Two, BBC Radio 4

A life sized dummy is imposed on the two man crew of a watch Tower at sea. These are troubled times but the greater threat is the presence of the unspeaking one, ideally suited to modern surveillance. The duo attempt by law and circumstance to resurrect tradition but instead find in the dummy a model, and in a model, an example and an example they are expected to follow.

So funny, so real so already happening.

The Token Two
A S Robertson

For the love of Chekov

Two on a first meeting are not impressed with what they see in each other but having got together they talk and begin to find out about each, and by elimination discover what they like about each other, I which was always there just had to be peeled away so staying beyond the first look can lead to something more enduring.

URBAN BALLADS

A sparkling mixture of narrative poems gathered around the faults, fragilities and triumphs of the individual as social being.

Populated by character and situation, they are theatre in condensed form, providing the reader with the opportunity beyond quiet contemplation, to tell their story out loud, alone or in a crowd.

By language which promotes itself as being clever, beautiful, insightful and communicable, these lines seek to master that rarest of achievements, which is to be popular and profound.
